Signals & Images

Head: Sébastien Cazin

This service is responsible for the development and management of tools and measurement methods specific to the fluid mechanics experiments that take place in the laboratory.

  • Laser Metrology: Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV), Laser Doppler Anemometry and Granulometry (ADL, PDA, Malvern), Laser Plane Induced Fluorescence (PLIF), spectrometry…
  • Acquisition and processing of images (PIV, trajectography (tracking), interface characterization (morphology), concentration measurement, image registration, infrared thermography,…).
  • Microscopic imaging (characterization of small-scale flows)
  • Development, design and manufacture of specific electronic measurement devices, equipment interfacing, control/command, real time.
  • Acquisition and processing of signals (pressure, temperature, resistivity,..).

As part of the I-MATECBIO CPER, led by the FERMAT research federation, the Signals & Images service managed the purchase and deployment of 3D characterization chains for time-resolved (4D) flows.
