FairCFD
Frugal & Accurate Innovation for Responsible CFD
FairCFD is a European Doctoral Network funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA-DN), aiming to train a new generation of highly skilled researchers in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and scientific computing, with a strong focus on numerical efficiency, environmental responsibility, and open science.
As simulations become an indispensable tool in engineering and science, their growing computational cost raises environmental and ethical concerns. FairCFD responds to this challenge by exploring and promoting new methods that reconcile computational performance with energy sobriety and scientific openness.
Objectives
FairCFD aims to:
- Develop innovative numerical methods to reduce simulation costs and carbon footprint.
- Train early-stage researchers in a multi-disciplinary and inter-sectoral environment.
- Foster open-source software, open data, and collaborative practices.
- Connect academic and industrial partners to address real-world CFD applications.
- Contribute to a broader reflection on eco-responsible scientific computing in Europe.
